My Lord Duke,

I have the honour to inform Your Grace that

owing to the large increase in the work of the Public Works

Department in connection with resumptions and valuations of

private property necessitated by street widening and various.

development schemes now under consideration I have come to →

the conclusion that it is necessary for a qualified surveyor

and valuer to be appointed to assist in the Resumptions

Office.

I attach the usual form of particulars of

the office and qualifications required and would suggest

that Sir John Oakley be consulted regarding possible

candidates if Your Grace approves of this appointment.
